Hair Blunders - too much of a good thing!

Most are inclined to stay abreast of the latest hair trends, but when is too much of a good thing enough.  Below are some typical beauty blunders!  Do not fall prey to them and opt for a more subtle take on the trends.

Too Blonde/Too Tanned

When you are blonde you may be inclined to become more blonde, then more blonde.  Blonde hair can be exquisite, but not when your skin is overly tanned and please NO frosted lips.  This bleach blonde hair can be harsh on the complexion and very dated circa Pamela Anderson 1995.

Opt for a more subdued look - blonde hair is beautiful - highlights are refreshing and soft.  A mix of soft highlights and lowlights is a natural look that is up-to-date and sophisticated.

Clipper Cuts for Women

This trend is tres chic, but a completely cropped head of hair can be harsh on the most gorgeous face.  Unless you are embracing your masculine side, it is a good idea to steer clear of this hair trend.

If you are a style diva; and have the guts - go for a partially shaved style.  Shaving one side of the hair and keeping the rest of the hair long and in tact is a more subdued approach to the clipper cut trend. Just keep in mind, growing your hair back can be a real *itch and takes time.  Think long and hard before shaving your head. Be sure to keep a deep side part that can be flipped over to cover the shaved side when you are ready to grow in your hair.

Crimped Hair

Thankfully crimping your hair with a crimping iron is not a permanent state because it can get tired very quickly.  All over crimped hair looks dry and out of date.  Crimped hair was the rage in the 80's, but unless you are very young you will look like you are "stuck" in the 80's.

A better alternative?  Why not go for beachy waves that are soft and current.  Beachy waves are sexy and have that effortless look.  You can achieve beachy waves with a triple barrel curl iron or just by scrunching hair with a cocktail of gel and silicone product to promote shine.

Teased Hair with Lots of HAIRSPRAY

Teased hair or back combed hair is certainly not a new technique to create volume and big hair.  Big hair is definitely back, but all over teased tresses with tacky hair spray will add years to your look.   Your hair will look dull and over done!  Not to mention, teasing hair causes damage and can break your hair right at the hair follicle.  DON'T DO IT.....

Like Big hair?  Then go for a more refined look by simply back combing the crown of your hair to add volume.  Roller set your hair and use silicone shine spray to keep your hair looking healthy.  Tousled ends looks modern and stylish.  A far more refined option for all ages is the below style.
